How to Create a JPay Account
Creating a JPay account allows you to stay connected with incarcerated loved ones. JPay offers services such as sending money, emails, and video visits. Here’s a straightforward guide to help you create a JPay account.
Step 1: Visit the Official JPay Website
Go to the official JPay website by typing www.jpay.com in your browser's address bar. Ensure that you're on the correct site to protect your personal information.
Step 2: Select the State and Inmate
On the homepage, select the state where the inmate is located and enter their inmate ID. This is important because JPay services vary by correctional facility. If you don't have the inmate's ID, you may search for them using their full name.
Step 3: Click on 'Find Inmate'
After entering the required information, click on the 'Find Inmate' button. The website will display options available for the inmate you are contacting. If there are multiple inmates with the same name, you might need to confirm additional details like their date of birth.
Step 4: Choose Available Services
You will see a list of services available to the inmate, which might include sending money, emailing, and video visits. To use these services, you must create an account.
Step 5: Create an Account
Look for the 'Sign Up' link, usually at the top right corner of the page. Click it to access the registration page. Provide basic information, including:
- Your first and last name
- Your email address (this will be your username)
- A password (choose a secure one and keep it safe)
Enter accurate information as this will identify you as an account holder.
Step 6: Provide Additional Information
You may need to answer security questions or provide your address and phone number.
Step 7: Agree to the Terms and Conditions
Read through the terms and conditions or user agreement provided by JPay. If you agree, check the box to indicate your consent.
Step 8: Verify Your Email
JPay will send a verification email to the address you provided. Check your email for a message from JPay, and click the link to verify your account. This will confirm that your account is active.
Step 9: Log In to Your New Account
After verifying your email, go to the JPay homepage and click on the 'Log In' button. Enter your registered email address and password to access your account.
Step 10: Start Using JPay Services
Your account is now set up, and you can start using JPay services to communicate with the incarcerated individual. You can fund your account to send money or purchase 'JPay stamps' for sending emails.
Creating a JPay account helps you maintain contact and support your loved ones in correctional facilities. Following these steps will enable you to navigate the JPay system effectively.
