A Brief History

Cal Poly Pomona's foundation dates back to 1938 when the Voorhis School for Boys in San Dimas combined with the California State Polytechnic School in San Luis Obispo, establishing the southern campus focused on vocational agriculture. This legacy continues to be a vital part of the institution.

During World War II, the campus served as an army training center. Following the war, the GI Bill supported rapid expansion, leading to the move in 1956 to the historic Kellogg Ranch founded by W.K. Kellogg. Originally a branch of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, it gained independence in 1966 and evolved into a comprehensive institution.
